The Kentucky Board of Dentistry accepts courses from any provider who is ADA or AGD approved.

Continuing Education

The Kentucky Board of Dentistry accepts NetCE courses.

Dentists are required 30 hours every two years, 20 of which may be completed by home study.* A minimum of 2 hours of HIV/AIDS are required every 10 years, approved by the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services.

Dentists authorized to administer and prescribe controlled substances are required three (3) hours every two years related to KASPER, pain management, or addiction disorders.

Beginning with DEA initial registrations or renewals starting June 27, 2023, all DEA-registered practitioners (with the exception of DVM-only license holders) are required 8 hours on treating and managing patients with opioid or other substance use disorders, including the appropriate clinical use of all FDA-approved drugs for the treatment of a substance use disorder; or the safe pharmacological management of dental pain and screening, brief intervention, and referral to treatment of patients with (or at risk of developing) opioid and other substance use disorders, one-time only.

Dental Hygienists who hold a Public Health RDH certification are required five (5) hours every two years in the area of public health or public dental health. These hours are included in the total hours required for license renewal.
