ADA CERP does not approve or endorse individual courses or instructors, nor does it imply acceptance of credit hours by boards of dentistry. The Utah Board of Dentists and Dental Hygienists accepts courses from any provider who is ADA approved.

Continuing Education

The Utah Board of Dentists and Dental Hygienists accepts NetCE courses.

Dentists and Dental Hygienists are required 30 hours every two years, 15 of which may be completed by Internet or home study.*

Dentists authorized to prescribe controlled substances must complete 2 hours on controlled substance prescribing every two years; the course must meet Board requirements.** 

Beginning with DEA initial registrations or renewals starting June 27, 2023, all DEA-registered practitioners (with the exception of DVM-only license holders) are required 8 hours on treating and managing patients with opioid or other substance use disorders, including the appropriate clinical use of all FDA-approved drugs for the treatment of a substance use disorder; or the safe pharmacological management of dental pain and screening, brief intervention, and referral to treatment of patients with (or at risk of developing) opioid and other substance use disorders, one-time only.

* NetCE courses are Internet and home study.

** NetCE does not have a course to meet this requirement.
