CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENT

CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENT

PAs: Required 98 hours every two year licensing period or show evidence of continuing education as required by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
Additional requirements include:

2 hours in Medical Errors every renewal
2 hours in Domestic Violence every third renewal
One-time requirement of 1 hour in HIV/AIDS at initial renewal
Prescribing Physician Assistants must complete 10 hours in specialty area of the supervising physician

The Georgia Composite State Board of Medical Examiners accepts courses from any provider who is ACCME accredited and awards AMA PRA Category 1 Credit ™.

CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENT

PAs: Required 40 hours of AMA PRA Category 1 Credit ™ every two year licensing period, 10 of which must be directly related to specialty area of the supervising physician. Licensees that are authorized to issue prescription drugs are to have a minimum of 3 hours in practice specific pharmaceuticals (according to prescription order privileges of supervising physician).

Licensee who hold a federal drug enforcement administration registration and licensure to prescribe opioids, are required 5 hours in treatment of pain management. Physician assistants must also review 1 hour of the New Mexico Medical Practice act.

CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENT

PAs: Required 100 hours every two year licensing period that is acceptable to the Board and must certify to the Board that they have maintained certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Physician assistants authorized to prescribe must complete 12 hours in pharmacology every two year licensing period (from an accredited institution recognized by the state medical board).
