ALABAMA PHYSICIANS

ARIZONA PHYSICIANS

The Arizona Board of Medical Examiners accepts courses from any provider who is ACCME accredited and awards AMA PRA Category 1 Credit ™.

CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENT

MDs: Required 40 hours of AMA PRA Category 1 Credit ™ preceding every two year licensing period.

DO: Required 20 hours of Board-approved CME preceding every two years licensing period, 12 of which may be obtained annually by completing CME classified by the AOA as Category 1A; and a maximum of 8 may be obtained annually by completing CME classified by the ACCME as Category 1.*

*CME Resource is classified as Category 1 by the ACCME, and a maximum of 16 hours may be obtained preceding every two year licensing period.

ARKANSAS PHYSICIANS

The Arkansas State Medical Board accepts courses from any provider who is ACCME accredited and awards AMA PRA Category 1 Credit ™.

CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENT

CALIFORNIA PHYSICIANS

The Medical Board of California accepts courses from any provider who is ACCME accredited and awards AMA PRA Category 1 Credit ™.

The Osteopathic Medical Board of California accepts courses that are AOA Category 2-B. CME Resource courses are considered AOA Category 2-B.

CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENT

MDs: Required 50 hours of AMA PRA Category 1 Credit ™ every two year licensing period.
Additional requirements include:

A one-time requirement of 12 hours in “pain management” and “the appropriate care and treatment of the terminally ill.”
General internists and family physicians who have a patient population of which over 25 percent of the patients are at least 65 years of age, are to complete at least 20 percent of their mandatory CME in the field of geriatric medicine.
Physicians, who hold a Radiography Supervisor and Operator Permit, are to complete 10 hours regarding the application of x-ray to the human body to renew their certification or permit.

DOs: Required 150 hours every three year licensing period, 60 of which must be in AOA Category 1-A or 1-B, and a maximum of 90 of the 150 hours may be in AOA Category 2-B.* There is a one-time requirement of 12 hours in “pain management” and “the appropriate care and treatment of the terminally ill”.

*CME Resource courses are considered Category 2-B.

FLORIDA PHYSICIANS

The Florida Board of Medicine accepts courses from any provider who is ACCME accredited and awards AMA PRA Category 1 Credit ™.

The Florida Board of Osteopathic Medicine accepts a maximum of 8 hours from any provider who is AMA PRA Category 1 Credit ™.*

In addition, CME Resource is an approved provider through the Florida Board of Medicine, CE Broker Provider #50-2405.

CONTINUING EDUCATION REQUIREMENT

MDs: Required 40 hours of AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ every two year licensing period.
Additional requirements include:

2 hours in Medical Errors every renewal.
2 hours in Domestic Violence every third renewal.
One-time requirement of 1 hour in HIV/AIDS at initial renewal.

DOs: Required 40 hours every two year licensing period, 20 of which must be AOA Category 1, and a maximum of 8 may be taken by home study.*
The following required for each renewal:

1 hour in medical ethics education (must be live/ participatory),
1 hour in Florida Laws and Rules (must be live/ participatory),
1 hour on the federal and state laws related to the prescribing of controlled substance (must be live/ participatory),
2 hours of Medical Error (must be live/ participatory).

Every third renewal 2 hours of Domestic Violence is required (may be home study).

One time requirement at initial licensure on 1 hour in HIV/AIDS (may be home study).

KENTUCKY PHYSICIANS

3 hours of Domestic Violence required within three years of initial licensure.*

DOs: Required 35 hour each annual licensing period, 10 of which must be Category 1-A*.

*Category 1-A course means a course of continuing medical education that is offered by a sponsor accredited to offer such a course by the American Osteopathic Association or the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education.

MDs: Required 75 hours of AMA PRA Category 1 Credit ™ every three year licensing period. Licensees who hold a federal drug enforcement administration registration and licensure to prescribe opioids, are required 5 hours in treatment of pain management. Physicians must also review 1 hour of the New Mexico Medical Practice act.

DOs: Required 75 hours of AMA PRA Category 1 Credit ™ every three year licensing period.
