Nebraska Physicians

In support of improving patient care, NetCE is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Medical & Specialized Health accepts courses from any provider who is ACCME-accredited and awards AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™.

Continuing Education Requirement

MDs and DOs are required 50 hours of AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ every two years.

Beginning with renewals on or after October 1, 2018, licensees who prescribe controlled substances must complete at least 3 hours on prescribing opiates, which may include, but is not limited to, education regarding prescribing and administering opiates, the risks and indicators regarding development of addiction to opiates, and emergency opiate situations. One half-hour of the 3 hours must cover the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) described in sections 71-2454 to 71-2456 of the Nebraska Revised Statutes.

Beginning with DEA initial registrations or renewals starting June 27, 2023, all DEA-registered practitioners (with the exception of DVM-only license holders) are required 8 hours on treating and managing patients with opioid or other substance use disorders, including the appropriate clinical use of all FDA-approved drugs for the treatment of a substance use disorder, one-time only.
