CE Mandate effective on and after January 1, 2024

Required 2 hours of health equity training 

For all healthcare professionals

Beginning January 1, 2024, Washington healthcare professionals are required at least 2 hours of health equity training every four years, including strategies to reduce implicit bias and assess the provider's ability to apply health equity concepts into practice. These hours are included in the total required for renewal.

NetCE provides a collection of relevant, evidence-based courses to support Washington healthcare professionals to meet their Washington CE requirement. Courses that meet this mandate include:

• Implicit Bias in Health Care - 3 Hours  
• Cultural Competence: An Overview - 2 Hours  
• Intercultural Competence and Patient-Centered Care - 4 Hours

 4. Discuss key aspects of creating a welcoming and safe environment, including avoidance of discriminatory language and behaviors.

 1. Define cultural competence, implicit bias, and related terminology.

2. Outline social determinants of health and barriers to providing care.

NetCE’s courses are Illinois board approved. Additionally, NetCE is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). NetCE is also an ADA CERP Recognized Provider. 

According to the Department of Health (DOH) and its implementation of the Engrossed Substitute Senate Bill (ESSB) 5229 (chapter 276, laws 2021), all healthcare professionals credentialed under Title 18 RCW, and subject to continuing education requirements, and must complete health equity continuing education training. This training must be taken at least once every four years.
