South Carolina Nurses

In support of improving patient care, NetCE is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

The South Carolina State Board of Nursing accepts courses from any provider who is ANCC accredited.

Continuing Education Requirement

Attention South Carolina Nurses: Due to the impacts of COVID-19, the South Carolina LLR is extending the license renewal deadline for licenses, registrations and permits scheduled to renew during the months of April, May, June, July and August. The new renewal deadline will now be extended to September 30, 2020.  Additionally, continuing education requirements may be obtained throughout the entirety of this extended renewal period. For more information, please visit

NetCE is an approved provider through CE Broker, Provider #50-2405.
NetCE will electronically report successful course completions to CE Broker.

RNs and LPNs are required one of the following every two years:

  • completion of 30 contact hours, or
  • maintenance of certification or re-certification, or
  • completion of an academic program of study in nursing or a related field, or
  • verification of competency and the number of hours practiced as evidenced by employer certification on a form approved by the board.

APRNs are required to maintain national certification or complete 30 hours every two years.

APRNs (NPs, CNMs, and CNSs) with prescriptive authority are required a minimum of 20 of the required 30 contact hours to be in pharmacotherapeutics related to specialty, including 2 hours in prescribing controlled substances.
