Nebraska Physician Assistants

In support of improving patient care, NetCE is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

As a jointly accredited provider, NetCE is authorized to award Category 1 CME Credit to physician assistants certified through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).

The Nebraska Health and Human Services, Regulation and Licensure Regulatory Affairs accept courses from any provider who is ACCME-accredited and awards AMA PRA Category 1 Credit ™.

Continuing Education Requirement

Attention Nebraska Physician Assistants: On September 19, 2022, Governor Pete Ricketts issued Executive Order 22-05, extending statutory waivers and conditions contained in Executive Orders 22-02, 21-12 and 21-15, except that Medication Aide renewals will no longer be deferred after March 31, 2022. Executive Order 22-05 expires on December 31, 2022. PAs are required 50 hours of AMA PRA Category 1 Credit ™ every two years or must maintain certification through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).

Beginning with renewals on or after October 1, 2018, licensees who prescribe controlled substances must complete at least 3 hours on prescribing opiates, which may include, but is not limited to, education regarding prescribing and administering opiates, the risks and indicators regarding development of addiction to opiates, and emergency opiate situations. One half-hour of the 3 hours must cover the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) described in sections 71-2454 to 71-2456 of the Nebraska Revised Statutes.
