Nebraska Psychologists

Continuing Education (CE) credits for psychologists are provided through the co-sponsorship of the American Psychological Association (APA) Office of Continuing Education in Psychology (CEP). The APA CEP Office maintains responsibility for the content of the programs.

The Nebraska Board of Examiners of Psychologists accepts courses from any provider who is approved by the American Psychological Association.

Continuing Education Requirement

Attention Nebraska Psychologists: Per Executive Order 20-10, license renewal is being deferred for certain license types. Expiration dates for these licenses will appear as 06/30/2021 on License Lookup unless the licensee has renewed. Licenses for these license types may continue to defer renewal until the COVID-19 State of Emergency is lifted. Licensees who choose to renew may do so beginning in mid-January 2021. For more information, please visit http://dhhs.ne.gov/licensure/Documents/Renewals-LicenseTypesPreviouslyOnHold.2.2.pdf.

Additionally, the Department will not enforce any limit on the number of continuing education hours obtained online or by home study for renewal or reinstatement of any type of license during the State Declaration of Public Health Emergency. If licensees obtained online or home study CE hours during the emergency because in-person courses were not available, the Department will accept those CE hours even if the renewal (expiration date) for that profession takes place after the emergency has ended. For more information, please visit http://dhhs.ne.gov/licensure/Pages/Psychology.aspx.

Psychologists are required 24 hours every two years, all of which may be completed by home study.
