New Jersey Counselors / Therapists

NBCC Approved Continuing Education Provider NetCE has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 6361. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. NetCE is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.

Continuing Education (CE) credits for psychologists are provided through the co-sponsorship of the American Psychological Association (APA) Office of Continuing Education in Psychology (CEP). The APA CEP Office maintains responsibility for the content of the programs.

NetCE is approved as a provider of continuing education by the Association for Addiction Professionals (NAADAC). Provider Number 97847. Designated courses are approved; please refer to individual course detail.

In support of improving patient care, NetCE is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

The New Jersey State Board of Marriage & Family Therapy Examiners and the New Jersey Professional Counselor Examiners Committee accept courses from any provider who is approved through APA, NBCC, NAADAC, and/or ANA.

Continuing Education Requirement

The New Jersey State Board of Marriage & Family Therapy Examiners and the New Jersey Professional Counselor Examiners Committee accept NetCE courses.

MFT are required 40 hours every two years, 20 of which may be completed by distance learning.*

A minimum of 5 of the 40 hours must be in ethics, 3 hours in social and cultural competence, and 1 hour in opioid drugs, including the risks and signs of opioid abuse, addiction, and diversion, every two years.

LAC, LPC, and LRC are required 40 hours every two years, all of which may be completed by home study*

A minimum of 5 of the 40 hours must be in ethics, 3 hours in social and cultural competence, and 1 hour in opioid drugs, including the risks and signs of opioid abuse, addiction, and diversion, every two years.

CADC are required 60 hours every two years, 30 of which may be completed by distance learning.*

A minimum of 3 of the 40 hours must be in cultural competence every two years. Beginning with the 2022-2024 renewal period, 3 hours in legal standards related to the practice of alcohol and drug counseling in New Jersey are required every two years. There is also a one-time requirement of 6 hours in legal standards related to the practice of alcohol and drug counseling in New Jersey.

A minimum of 3 of the 40 hours must be in cultural competence every two years. Beginning with the 2022-2024 renewal period, 3 hours in legal standards related to the practice of alcohol and drug counseling in New Jersey are required every two years. There is also a one-time requirement of 6 hours in legal standards related to the practice of alcohol and drug counseling in New Jersey.

*NetCE courses are considered home study or distance learning.
