West Virginia Dental Professionals

ADA CERP does not approve or endorse individual courses or instructors, nor does it imply acceptance of credit hours by boards of dentistry. The West Virginia Board of Dental Examiners accepts courses from any provider who is ADA or AGD approved.

Continuing Education

The West Virginia Board of Dental Examiners accepts NetCE courses.

Dentists are required 35 hours every two years, 17.5 of which may be completed by graded correspondence.*
A minimum of 2 of the 35 hours shall be related to any one or combination of the following subjects every two years:

  • Infection control and/or occupational hazards,
  • Oral effects of tobacco use, or
  • Oral effects of substance abuse.

Beginning with the February 1, 2018 reporting deadline, licensed dentists are required 3 hours in drug diversion, best practice prescribing of controlled substances, and opioid antagonist prescribing and administration.

Dental Hygienists are required 20 hours every two years, 10 of which may be completed by graded correspondence.*
A minimum of 2 of the 20 hours shall be related to any one or combination of the following subjects every two years:

  • Infection control and/or occupational hazards,
  • Oral effects of tobacco use, or
  • Oral effects of substance abuse.

*NetCE courses are considered graded correspondence.
