New Mexico Advanced Practice Registered Nurses CE Requirements, Accreditations & Approvals
New Mexico Nurses
In
support of improving patient care, NetCE is jointly accredited by the Accreditation
Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for
Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to
provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
The New Mexico Board of Nursing accepts courses from any provider who is ANCC accredited.
Continuing Education Requirement
The New Mexico Board of Nursing accepts NetCE courses.
APRNs, RNs and LPNs are required 30 contact hours every two years.
APRN-CNPs and APRN-CNSs with a DEA registration are required an additional 20 hours in the following:
- 5 hours in the scope of practice
- 10 hours in pharmacology, and
- 5 hours in non-cancer pain management.
APRN-CNPs and APRN-CNSs without a DEA registration are required an additional 20 hours in the following:
- 10 hours in the scope of practice, and
- 10 hours in pharmacology
APRN-CRNAs must maintain NBCRNA certification. Licensees with a DEA registration are required 5 hours in non-cancer pain management.
APRN-CNMs are required 30 contact hours, 15 of which must be pharmacology-related and to maintain AMCB certification. For the first license renewal, a minimum of 5 contact hours is required, and for subsequent renewals, a minimum of 2 contact hours must be completed on any of the following topics:
- Management of Chronic Pain,
- Pharmacology risks of controlled substances,
- The problems of abuse and addiction, or
- State and federal regulations for the prescription of controlled substances.
