Wyoming Advanced Practice Registered Nurses CE Requirements, Accreditations & Approvals

Wyoming Nurses

In support of improving patient care, NetCE is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

The Wyoming State Board of Nursing accepts courses from any provider who is ANCC accredited.

Continuing Education Requirement

The Wyoming State Board of Nursing accepts NetCE courses.

RNs and LPNs are required one of the following every two years:

  • 400 hours of active nursing practice, no additional continuing education.
  • 200 hours of active nursing practice, and 15 hours of continuing education.
  • If less than 200 hours of active nursing practice, 30 hours of continuing education.

APRNs are required every two years:

  • If recognized as an APRN in the State after 1/1/1999, 400 hours of active nursing practice and proof of national certification.
  • If recognized as an APRN in the State prior to 1/1/1999, have maintained continuous licensure without national certification, 400 hours of active nursing practice and 60 hours of continuing education related to specialty and population foci.

APRNs with prescriptive authority are required 3 hours of continuing education related to the responsible prescribing of controlled substances or treatment of substance abuse disorders every two years.

Beginning with DEA initial registrations or renewals starting June 27, 2023, all DEA-registered practitioners (with the exception of DVM-only license holders) are required 8 hours on treating and managing patients with opioid or other substance use disorders, including the appropriate clinical use of all FDA-approved drugs for the treatment of a substance use disorder, one-time only.
