Connecticut Nurses CE Requirements, Accreditations & Approvals

Connecticut Nurses

In support of improving patient care, NetCE is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

The Connecticut Board of Examiners for Nursing accepts courses from any provider who is ANCC accredited.

Continuing Education Requirement

The Connecticut Board of Examiners for Nursing accepts NetCE courses.

RNs and LPNs Beginning with renewals after January 1, 2022, and every 6 years thereafter, two (2) contact hours are required in screening for conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder, risk of suicide, depression and grief; and suicide prevention training.

APRNs are required 50 hours every two years, including:

Beginning with renewals on and after 1/1/2016, two (2) contact hours are required on the topic of mental health conditions common to veterans and family members of veterans, including determining whether a patient is a veteran or family member of a veteran, screening for conditions such as PTSD, risk of suicide, depression and grief, and suicide prevention, once for first renewal requiring CE and not less than once every six years thereafter.

Beginning with renewals on and after 1/1/2020, two (2) contact hours are required in diagnosing and treating cognitive or mental health conditions, including, but not limited to, Alzheimer's disease, dementia, delirium, related cognitive impairments and geriatric depression, once for first renewal requiring CE and not less than once every six years thereafter.

Beginning with DEA initial registrations or renewals starting June 27, 2023, all DEA-registered practitioners (with the exception of DVM-only license holders) are required 8 hours on treating and managing patients with opioid or other substance use disorders, including the appropriate clinical use of all FDA-approved drugs for the treatment of a substance use disorder, one-time only.
