Maine Nurses CE Requirements, Accreditations & Approvals

Maine Nurses

In support of improving patient care, NetCE is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

The Maine State Board of Nursing accepts courses from any provider who is ANCC accredited.

Continuing Education Requirement

The Maine State Board of Nursing accepts NetCE courses.

RNs and LPNs are not required continuing education at this time.

APRNs are required to maintain national certification; and complete 50 contact hours in nursing, medicine, or allied health in the area of practice, every two years. Licensees with prescriptive authority are required 3 hours of Category I education on the prescribing of opioid medication.*

CNMs must maintain national certification through the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB).

*NetCE courses are considered Category I.
