Connecticut Physicians
In
support of improving patient care, NetCE is jointly accredited by the Accreditation
Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for
Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to
provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
The Connecticut Department of Public Health and Additional Services accept courses from any provider who is ACCME-accredited and awards AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™.
Continuing Education Requirement
MDs and DOs are required 50 hours of AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ every two years.
At least 1 hour is required in each of the following every six years:
- infectious diseases, including but not limited to, acquired immune deficiency syndrome, and human immunodeficiency virus;
- risk management, including but not limited to,prescribing controlled substances and pain management, and for registration periods beginning on or after October 1, 2019, screening for inflammatory breast cancer and gastrointestinal cancers, including colon, gastric, pancreatic and neuroendocrine cancers, and other rare gastrointestinal cancers;
- sexual assault;
- domestic violence;
- cultural competency; and
- at least 2 contact hours in behavioral health, including but not limited to, Alzheimer's disease, dementia, delirium, related cognitive impairments and geriatric depression, or mental health conditions common to veterans and family members, which includes determining whether a patient is a veteran or a family member of a veteran, screening for conditions such as PTSD, risk of suicide, depression and grief, and suicide prevention training.
