Iowa Psychologists

Continuing Education (CE) credits for psychologists are provided through the co-sponsorship of the American Psychological Association (APA) Office of Continuing Education in Psychology (CEP). The APA CEP Office maintains responsibility for the content of the programs.

The Iowa Board of Psychology Examiners accepts courses from any provider who is approved by the American Psychological Association.

Continuing Education Requirement

Psychologists are required 40 hours every two years, all of which may be completed by home study. A minimum of 6 of the 40 hours must be in either Iowa mental health laws and regulations or risk management during the 2nd renewal period. Thereafter, 6 hours are required in one of the following: ethical issues, federal mental health laws and regulations, Iowa mental health laws and regulations, or risk management every two years.
