Pennsylvania Psychologists

Continuing Education (CE) credits for psychologists are provided through the co-sponsorship of the American Psychological Association (APA) Office of Continuing Education in Psychology (CEP). The APA CEP Office maintains responsibility for the content of the programs.

The Pennsylvania State Board of Psychology accepts courses from any provider who is approved by the American Psychological Association.

Continuing Education Requirement

Psychologists are required 30 hours every two years, 15 of which may be completed by home study. A minimum of 3 hours must be in ethics every two years. In accordance with Act 31 of 2014, all health-related licensees must complete 2 hours of approved child abuse recognition and reporting training every two years.* Beginning with November 2017 renewals, in accordance with Act 74 of 2016, 1 hour must be completed in suicide prevention every two years.

As a requirement for initial licensure, in accordance with Act 31 of 2014, all psychologists are required to complete 3 hours of approved child abuse recognition and reporting training.*

* NetCE's course on child abuse recognition and reporting training is approved for both initial licensure and renewal of license.
