Nebraska Social Workers CE Requirements, Accreditations & Approvals

Nebraska Social Workers

As a Jointly Accredited Organization, NetCE is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. NetCE maintains responsibility for this course.

The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services Board of Mental Health Practice accepts courses from any provider who is ASWB approved.

Continuing Education Requirement

Attention Nebraska Social Workers: Executive Order 20-10 will defer continuing education requirements for renewals that occur during the emergency, as well as payments of renewal fees. Renewals are currently on hold, and the license will not expire. Expiration dates will be extended until December 31, 2020. Additionally, the Department will not enforce any limit on the number of continuing education hours obtained online or by home study for renewal or reinstatement of any type of license during the State Declaration of Public Health Emergency. If licensees obtained online or home study CE hours during the emergency because in-person courses were not available, the Department will accept those CE hours even if the renewal (expiration date) for that profession takes place after the emergency has ended. CMSWs and CSWs are required 32 hours every two years, 20 of which may be completed by home study.*

A minimum of 2 of the 32 hours must be in ethics every two years.

*NetCE courses are considered home study.
