California Psychologists

Continuing Education (CE) credits for psychologists are provided through the co-sponsorship of the American Psychological Association (APA) Office of Continuing Education in Psychology (CEP). The APA CEP Office maintains responsibility for the content of the programs.

The California Board of Psychology accepts courses from any provider who is approved by the American Psychological Association.

Continuing Education Requirement

Psychologists are required 36 hours every two years, 27 of which may be taken by independent study.*

Effective January 1, 2020, all applicants and current licensees must complete a one-time requirement of 6 hours in suicide prevention and intervention.

*NetCE courses are considered independent study.
