Maryland Psychologists

Continuing Education (CE) credits for psychologists are provided through the co-sponsorship of the American Psychological Association (APA) Office of Continuing Education in Psychology (CEP). The APA CEP Office maintains responsibility for the content of the programs.

The Maryland Board of Examiners of Psychologists accepts courses from any provider who is approved by the American Psychological Association.

Continuing Education Requirement

Psychologists are required 40 hours every two years, 20 of which may be completed by independent study.* A minimum of 3 of the 40 hours must be in laws pertaining to the practice of psychology, ethics or risk management, and 3 in cultural diversity every two years. Supervising psychologists are required 3 hours in clinical supervision, every 2 years.

NEW For first renewal on or after 4/1/2022, licensees involved in perinatal care are required to take implicit bias training, one-time only.

*NetCE courses are considered independent study.
