The Georgia Board of Dentistry accepts courses from any provider who is ADA or AGD approved.

Continuing Education

The Georgia Board of Dentistry accepts NetCE courses.

Dentists are required 40 hours every two years, 20 of which may be completed by home study.* Requirements every renewal period include: one (1) hour on the impact of opioid abuse, proper prescription writing, and/or the use of opioids in dental practice; one (1) hour on legal ethics and professionalism in the practice of dentistry; and, beginning on and after January 1, 2024, two (2) hours regarding infection control in the practice of dentistry.

Beginning with DEA initial registrations or renewals starting June 27, 2023, all DEA-registered practitioners (with the exception of DVM-only license holders) are required 8 hours on treating and managing patients with opioid or other substance use disorders, including the appropriate clinical use of all FDA-approved drugs for the treatment of a substance use disorder; or the safe pharmacological management of dental pain and screening, brief intervention, and referral to treatment of patients with (or at risk of developing) opioid and other substance use disorders, one-time only.

Dental Hygienists are required 22 hours every two years, 11 of which may be completed by home study.* Requirements every renewal period include: one (1) hour on legal ethics and professionalism in the practice of dentistry; and, beginning on and after January 1, 2024, two (2) hours regarding infection control in the practice of dentistry.

* NetCE courses are considered home study.
