Alabama Nurses CE Requirements, Accreditations & Approvals
Alabama Nurses
In
support of improving patient care, NetCE is jointly accredited by the Accreditation
Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for
Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to
provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
The Alabama Board of Nursing accepts courses from any provider who is ANCC accredited.
In addition to our ANCC accreditation, NetCE is an approved provider through the Alabama Board of Nursing, Provider #ABNP0353 (valid through July 29, 2025).
Continuing Education Requirement

NetCE reports to the Alabama
Board of Nursing.
RNs are required 24 contact hours every two years.
LPNs are required 24 contact hours every two years.
APNs are required 24 contact hours every two years, 6 of the 24 hours must be in pharmacology.
If you hold a Qualified Alabama Controlled Substances Certificate (QACSC), 4 of the 24 hours must be Board-approved CE every two years. The hours awarded for the QACSC course will count toward the 6 hours of pharmacology required for APN renewal.
Beginning with DEA initial registrations or renewals starting June 27, 2023, all DEA-registered practitioners (with the exception of DVM-only license holders) are required 8 hours on treating and managing patients with opioid or other substance use disorders, including the appropriate clinical use of all FDA-approved drugs for the treatment of a substance use disorder, one-time only.
