New Jersey Nurses CE Requirements, Accreditations & Approvals
New Jersey Nurses
In
support of improving patient care, NetCE is jointly accredited by the Accreditation
Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for
Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to
provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
The New Jersey Board of Nursing accepts courses approved through an agency accredited through the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA). NetCE is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation (ANCC). The ANCC is an accredited member through NCCA. Therefore, NetCE courses are accepted by the New Jersey Board of Nursing.
Continuing Education Requirement
The New Jersey Board of Nursing accepts NetCE courses.
RNs are required 30 contact hours every two years, including 1 hour on prescription opioid drugs, alternatives to opioids for managing and treating pain and the risks of opioid abuse, addiction, and diversion. There is a one-time requirement of 1 contact hour of education on Organ and Tissue Donation and Recovery.
LPNs are required 30 contact hours every two years, including 1 hour on prescription opioid drugs, alternatives to opioids for managing and treating pain and the risks of opioid abuse, addiction, and diversion.
APNs must maintain national certification; and complete the continuing
education requirements for RN license renewal (30 contact hours every two years,
including 1 hour on prescription opioid
drugs, alternatives to opioids for managing and treating pain, and the risks of
opioid abuse, addiction, and diversion). The 30 hours for APN renewal must
also include 2 hours related to end-of-life care. There is a one-time requirement of 1 contact hour of
education on Organ and Tissue Donation and
Recovery.
APNs authorized to prescribe are required an
additional 6 hours, one-time only, in pharmacology related to
controlled substances, including: pharmacologic therapy, addiction prevention
and management, and issues concerning prescription opioid, including:
responsible opioid prescribing, alternatives to opioids for managing and
treating pain, the risks and signs of opioid abuse, addiction, and
diversion.
