Nevada Nurses CE Requirements, Accreditations & Approvals

Nevada Nurses

In support of improving patient care, NetCE is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

The Nevada State Board of Nursing accepts courses from any provider who is ANCC accredited.

Continuing Education Requirement

The Nevada State Board of Nursing accepts NetCE courses.

RNs and LPNs are required 30 contact hours every two years. There is a one-time requirement of 4 contact hours in bioterrorism.

Beginning with collection cycles starting January 1, 2024, all licensees are required 4 hours relating to cultural competency and diversity, equity and inclusion, every collection cycle. (NV AB-267 enacted 6/5/2023.)

NEW Beginning with applications and first renewals after January 1, 2024, nurses who provide or supervise the provision of emergency medical services in a hospital or primary care (practice of family medicine, pediatrics, internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology and midwifery) must submit proof of at least 2 hours of training in the stigma, discrimination and unrecognized bias toward persons who have acquired or are at a high risk of acquiring human immunodeficiency virus, within 2 years after beginning to provide such services or care. (NV SB-439 enacted 6/15/2023).

APRNs are required 45 contact hours every two years (which may include the 30 hours required for RN license renewal), 15 of which must be related to the area of practice and are required 2 hours of training in evidence-based suicide prevention and awareness to be completed within two years of initial licensure and every four years thereafter. There is a one-time requirement of 4 contact hours in bioterrorism.

NEW Beginning with renewals on or after January 1, 2024, APRNs are required at least 2 hours related to the screening, brief intervention, and referral to treatment approach to substance use disorder every renewal.

APRNs registered to dispense controlled substances are required at least 2 hours related to the misuse and abuse of controlled substances, the prescribing of opioids or addiction; or screening, brief intervention, and referral to treatment approach to substance use disorder.

NEW Beginning with applications and first renewals on and after January 1, 2024, nurses who provide or supervise the provision of emergency medical services in a hospital or primary care (practice of family medicine, pediatrics, internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology and midwifery) must submit proof of at least 2 hours of training in the stigma, discrimination and unrecognized bias toward persons who have acquired or are at a high risk of acquiring human immunodeficiency virus, within 2 years after beginning to provide such services or care. Beginning with DEA initial registrations or renewals starting June 27, 2023, all DEA-registered practitioners (with the exception of DVM-only license holders) are required 8 hours on treating and managing patients with opioid or other substance use disorders, including the appropriate clinical use of all FDA-approved drugs for the treatment of a substance use disorder, one-time only.
