Puerto Rico Nurses CE Requirements, Accreditations & Approvals

Puerto Rico Nurses

In support of improving patient care, NetCE is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

The Puerto Rico Board of Nursing accepts courses from any provider who is ANCC accredited.

Continuing Education Requirement

The Puerto Rico Board of Nursing accepts NetCE courses.

RNs are required 30 contact hours every three years, 3 of which must be in infection including HIV, Hepatitis and/or Tuberculosis.

LPNs are required 21 contact hours every three years, 3 of which must be in infection including HIV, Hepatitis and/or Tuberculosis.

All APNs are required 50 contact hours every three years, 20 of which must be in their area of specialty. Licensees must also hold a national certification appropriate for their specialties.

Nurse Practitioners and Nurse Specialists must be certified through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).

Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists must be certified through the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).

Midwives must be certified through the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB).
