West Virginia Pharmacists / Pharmacy Technicians

In support of improving patient care, NetCE is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

The West Virginia Board of Pharmacy accepts courses from any provider who is ACPE accredited.

Continuing Education Requirement

Pharmacists are required 30 hours every two years, 24 of which may be completed by home study.* A minimum of six (6) hours must be obtained through a live presentation requiring the direct presence of the pharmacist.** Effective September 13, 2023, a minimum of two (2) hours is required one-time only in Board-approved drug diversion training and best practices prescribing of controlled substances, within one year of initial licensure. Pharmacists who have fulfilled and reported drug diversion continuing education previously do not need to report it again in 2024. Pharmacists renewing for the first time in 2024 are required to fulfill and report the drug diversion training and best practices prescribing of controlled substances.

Pharmacists with an immunization permit are required 2 hours related to immunizations each year.

Pharmacy Consultants must register with the board each year.

Pharmacy Technicians must maintain national certification.

* NetCE courses are considered home study.

** NetCE does not currently offer live presentations.
