Texas Pharmacy Technicians CE Requirements, Accreditations & Approvals
Texas Pharmacists / Pharmacy Technicians
In
support of improving patient care, NetCE is jointly accredited by the Accreditation
Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for
Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to
provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
NetCE will report your credit to the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP), provided that you add your NABP e-Profile ID and date of birth to your account. If you select to opt out of entering this information, you agree to not hold NetCE responsible for reporting your credit. The Texas State Board of Pharmacy accepts courses from any provider who is ACPE accredited.
Continuing Education Requirement
NetCE will report your credit to the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP), provided that you add your NABP e-Profile ID and date of birth to your account. If you select to opt out of entering this information, you agree to not hold NetCE responsible for reporting your credit.
Pharmacists are required 30 hours every two years, all of which may be completed by home study.* A minimum of one (1) hour must be on Texas pharmacy rules every two years.
All licensees are required to complete a training course approved by the executive commissioner of the Health and Human Services Commission on identifying victims of human trafficking every two years.
For renewals received after August 31, 2021 and before September 1, 2023, at least one (1) contact hour annually, or a total of two (2) contact hours, must be related to best practices, alternative treatment options, and multi-modal approaches to pain management as specified in section 481.0764 of the Texas Health and Safety Code.
By first anniversary of licensure, at least two (2) contact hours must be related to approved procedures of prescribing and monitoring controlled substances as specified in section 481.07635 of the Texas Health and Safety Code.
For renewals received after August 31, 2021 and before September 1, 2023, at least one (1) contact hour shall be related to mental health awareness.
Pharmacists engaged in drug therapy management are required six (6) hours in drug therapy management each year.
Pharmacists authorized to administer vaccinations are required three (3) hours in disease states, drugs, and administration of immunizations or vaccines every two years.
Pharmacists acting as a preceptor are required three (3) hours of board approved preceptor training every two years.**
Pharmacy Technicians are required 20 hours every two years, all of which may be completed by home study*; or maintain national certification. A minimum of one (1) hour must be on Texas pharmacy rules every two years.

*NetCE courses are considered home study.
**NetCE does not offer the board approved preceptor training.
