Virginia Physicians

In support of improving patient care, NetCE is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

The Virginia State Board of Medicine accepts courses from any provider who is ACCME-accredited and awards AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™.

Continuing Education Requirement

Attention Virginia Physicians: The Board of Medicine has made accommodations to the reactivation or reinstatement licensing process during the COVID-19 emergency.  For those who held an unencumbered license within the last 4 years, the fees and continuing education requirements will be waived. MDs and DOs are required 60 hours of AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ every two years. Effective January 1, 2017, prescribers are required 2 hours in topics related to pain management, responsible prescribing of covered/controlled substances, and diagnosis and management of addiction every renewal.

Licensees who administer office-based anesthesia without an anesthesiologist or CRNA are required to complete 4 hours in topics related to anesthesia every renewal.
