Georgia Physicians CE Requirements, Accreditations & Approvals
Georgia Physicians
In support of improving patient care, NetCE is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
The Georgia Composite State Board of Medical Examiners accepts courses from any provider who is ACCME-accredited and awards AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™.
Continuing Education Requirement
MDs and DOs are required 40 hours of AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ every two years.
Beginning with DEA initial registrations or renewals starting June 27, 2023, all DEA-registered practitioners (with the exception of DVM-only license holders) are required 8 hours on treating and managing patients with opioid or other substance use disorders, including the appropriate clinical use of all FDA-approved drugs for the treatment of a substance use disorder, one-time only.
Licensees who hold an active DEA registration and prescribe controlled substances must complete a one-time requirement of 3 hours of AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ or AOA Category 1 credit on controlled substance prescribing practices including: controlled substance prescribing guidelines, recognizing the signs of abuse or misuse of controlled substances, and controlled substance prescribing for chronic pain.*
Physicians who do not hold a certification in pain management or palliative medicine, and whose opioid pain management patients comprise 50% or more of the patient population, must complete 20 hours of AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ or AOA Category 1 credit pertaining to pain management or palliative medicine every two years.
Beginning January 1, 2022, physicians must complete a one-time requirement of 2 hours of professional boundaries and sexual misconduct education.
* NetCE courses are considered AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ and AOA Category 2-B Credit.
