Mississippi Physicians

In support of improving patient care, NetCE is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

The Mississippi State Board of Medical Licensure accepts courses from any provider who is ACCME-accredited and awards AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™. NetCE is an approved provider through CE Broker Provider #50-2405 and will electronically report successful course completions to CE Broker.

Continuing Education Requirement

MDs and DOs are required 40 hours of AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ every two years. Licensees who hold a Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license must complete 5 hours related to the prescribing of medications with an emphasis on controlled substances.

Beginning with DEA initial registrations or renewals starting June 27, 2023, all DEA-registered practitioners (with the exception of DVM-only license holders) are required 8 hours on treating and managing patients with opioid or other substance use disorders, including the appropriate clinical use of all FDA-approved drugs for the treatment of a substance use disorder, one-time only.

Physicians who wish to dispense must obtain a certificate and register with the board after completing 10 hours of Category 1 AMA or AOA continuing education in the area of pharmacology and/or the dispensing of medication.

Pain management practice owners are required 30 hours of AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ every two years (of the total 40 hours required for medical license renewal) to be in practice areas of pain management, addiction, or prescribing of opiates.
