The New Mexico Medical Board and The New Mexico Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners accept courses from any provider who is ACCME-accredited and awards AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™. NetCE is an approved provider through CE Broker Provider #50-2405 and will electronically report successful course completions to CE Broker.

Continuing Education Requirement

MDs and DOs are required 75 hours of AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ every three years, 1 of which must be earned by reviewing the New Mexico Medical Practice Act. Licensees who hold a federal DEA registration and a New Mexico controlled substance registration are required 5 hours in pain management and the prescribing of controlled substances within the first year of licensure and every renewal thereafter.

Beginning with DEA initial registrations or renewals starting June 27, 2023, all DEA-registered practitioners (with the exception of DVM-only license holders) are required 8 hours on treating and managing patients with opioid or other substance use disorders, including the appropriate clinical use of all FDA-approved drugs for the treatment of a substance use disorder, one-time only.

The New Mexico Department of Health encourages certifying practitioners to complete at least 2 CME hours related to the medicinal use of cannabis each year.
