Ohio Physicians CE Requirements, Accreditations & Approvals
Ohio Physicians
In support of improving patient care, NetCE is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
The State Medical Board of Ohio accepts courses from any provider who is ACCME-accredited and awards AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™.
The State Medical Board of Ohio accepts courses that are AOA Category 2-B. NetCE courses are considered AOA Category 2-B.
NetCE is an approved provider through CE Broker Provider #50-2405 and will electronically report successful course completions to CE Broker.
Continuing Education Requirement
MDs, DOs and DPMs are required 50 hours of Category 1 (AMA, AOA, or APMA) every two years.*
Beginning with DEA initial registrations or renewals starting June 27, 2023, all DEA-registered practitioners (with the exception of DVM-only license holders) are required 8 hours on treating and managing patients with opioid or other substance use disorders, including the appropriate clinical use of all FDA-approved drugs for the treatment of a substance use disorder, one-time only.
Physicians holding a certificate to recommend medical marijuana are required 2 hours in medical marijuana education, for certificate renewal every two years.
Effective May 31, 2021, physicians are required to complete 1 hour on the topic of a licensee's duty to report misconduct. Enforcement of this requirement will begin with renewal or reinstatement applications submitted on or after July 1, 2021.
