New York Social Workers

The New York State Board of Social Work requires that providers offering continuing education activities must be approved through the New York State Education Department.

NetCE is recognized by the New York State Education Department's State Board for Social Work as an approved provider of continuing education for licensed social workers #SW-0033.

Continuing Education Requirement

Attention New York Social Workers: In response to the evolving situation with the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), and for those licensees whose registrations are due to renew March 1, 2020-May 1, 2021, the Department will grant an adjustment to all licensees to complete up to 100% of the continuing education as self-study, so long as it is taken from a Department-approved provider and is in an acceptable subject area for the specific profession. NetCE is recognized by the New York State Education Department's State Board for Social Work, #SW-0033.

LMSW and LCSW are required 36 hours of approved continuing education courses every three years. In response to the evolving situation with the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), those licensees whose registrations are due to renew March 1, 2020-May 1, 2021 may complete 100% of the continuing education through self-study.* For licensees whose registrations renew after May 1, 2021, 12 hours may be completed by self-study.
