New Mexico Psychologists

Continuing Education (CE) credits for psychologists are provided through the co-sponsorship of the American Psychological Association (APA) Office of Continuing Education in Psychology (CEP). The APA CEP Office maintains responsibility for the content of the programs.

The New Mexico Board of Psychologist Examiners accepts courses from any provider who is approved by the American Psychological Association.

Continuing Education Requirement

Psychologists and Psychologist Associates are required 40 hours every two years, 25 of which may be completed by home study. A minimum of 2 hours must be in cultural diversity or health disparities, 4 hours in equity and inclusion, and 4 hours in ethics every two years. Prescribing psychologists (conditional or unrestricted) are required 60 hours every two years, 40 of which must be in psychopharmacology or psychopharmacotherapy.
